This year’s event is close to our own hearts, and we are asking for your support of “one of our own”. We will have raffles and a silent auction at the event to help raise additional funds for the Callaghan Family.
Keith Callaghan joined the Elburn Fire Department in 1983 at the age of 16, and has remained an active part-time member ever since. During this tenure he was able to work with his brother Kelly who is our retired Fire Chief and his daughter Nichole who served as a part-time firefighter/EMT until recently leaving to attend nursing school. In addition to volunteer Fire Service, Keith has been a lifelong member of the Elburn Lions Club. Keith has given a lifetime of serving this community and is often described as “One of the most kind and generous people you would ever meet” and as “one of the best”.
On the morning of Friday, May 11th, 2018, Keith fell approximately 11 feet while working at a construction site in Genoa, IL. He suffered a punctured lung, fractured sternum and ribs, cervical spine fractures and thoracic spine T6 was shattered. He has significant cervical and thoracic spine damage. He underwent surgery to stabilize his spine and was transferred to a rehabilitation facility in Chicago for intense physical therapy.
Keith has a long road of recovery ahead of him. He is a self-employed construction worker with a limited income during his recovery. He has three daughters, Nichole, Kendall and Samantha. The medical bills are mounting and he has a family to support. Our goal is to help offset some of these expenses so Keith can focus on his complete recovery.
All proceeds with benefit FF Keith Callaghan and his family.
